When I read "fisherman" (for the father) that just about confirms it and the clincher is the mother's maiden name, Cargill. Swankie and Cargill are two to the most commonly found surnames in the fishing community of Arbroath. Try ScotlandsPeople remembering that the parish could also be St Vigeans.
