The IGI has only 19 PROFIT etc entries in Perth plus the Sylvester ones which are all "sealed" by LDS members so not readable. Two males were born in the 1650s and may be parents of your Sylvester. It would be worth looking at the OPR Film for the time to see it, by chance Sylvester is named as a witness to another birth. The writing will be very different so you may need an expert - or a crash course - to be sure you get the import of the entries. The 11 Sylvester entries are all "sealed" by LDS members so not readable. There are 734 entries for PROFIT etc in Angus. One can't narrow the search down by dates and I haven't studied the whole list but there are many around 1690 so there are records! It might be worth your while firstly examining the list for clusters of the PROFIT surname in whatever parishes are listed for the time. Then secondly looking at the OPR films of the time [or getting an expert to do it: the writing will be very different!] again looking for witness names for births [if any].
