Since I live in Virginia I have all his records from the time he arrived in 1716 on the boat the Elizabeth and Ann. He was a Jacobite and was captured in Preston and shipped out and I even have a copy of his will, from 1767. It's just so hard not to be able to connect him with anyone in Scotland. I've tried several of the sites you listed but no luck. I hope to come to Scotland in 3 years, maybe I can search records when I get there. I wish I did know someone that lived in Scotland that could do some research for me. I tried one but they only go back so far and weren't willing to search back to 1698.
