Hello. I have just discovered more roots. My father's people were Macgregors - though earlier McGregors. My Great-grandfather's mother was Matilda Webster. Daughter of John Webster, farmer and Margaret Largie. I haven't found their marriage yet, but I think they were from around Montrose. Matilda married my great-great grandfather December 26, 1856 in Glasgow. Her residence is listed as Academy Square, Montrose, and she was a domestic servant on her marriage certificate. I'm wondering if anyone has any connections with this family? And I found Academy Square on a map of Montrose, but wonder if there was a large house at the time where she might have been a servant? A witness was Alexander Morrice. Thank you for any help. when the 1911 census came out for England, I finally found my grandfather in London and his place of birth was Londonderry, NI. Which explains why I've never found his birth in Scotland or England. Closing in on finding out who I am. Dad's side of the family was a huge mystery with skeletons in the closet - or more obvious ones than the rest of the family.
