I think I may have a few connections here. Jane ANGUS b c1836/7 Fetteresso was my GG Grandmother. I have traced her marriage to John EDWARDS (1837-1920) and their two children William and Mary Jane but am not descended from him. My G Grandfather was her illegitimate son James ANGUS b Drumforber 22SEP1855. Thanks to some advice from Gordon Johnson I traced his father to a James PATON but clearly he did not do the decent thing by Jane. James m Margaret PATON in Ferryden 1883. They settled in Montrose and had eleven children that I am aware of. The eighth was Joseph Kydd ANGUS b1898 who was a Journeyman Baker in Arbroath and died in 1979. Jane EDWARDS (ms ANGUS) death on 05JUL1929 was registered by her son- in-law Joseph Kydd (likely Mary Jane's husband). So - there seem to be a few connections here to whoever "tarves_1" is. I have never been able to exactly trace where in Usan the Smithy was. I have traced three on old maps but don't know which John EDWARDS worked. My grandmother used to tell of walking over there on a Sunday afternoon from Montrose to visit her Gran. Regards.
