Perhaps from a gravestone or a statement in the kirk session minutes? It is so easy to see names that fit dates and places, and assume they are the correct people "because they are the only ones" in the register". Even worse, if just taken from an index. Unfortunately, most of the registers are defective, and have gaps, damage, etc. and there may be another candidate to fit your tree who is missing. Gordon.
