    3. Ann, I happened to be passing Angus Archives with time to spare so I had a quick look at Valuation Rolls taking 1940/41, 1944/45 and 1948/49 a samples. There is no property owner or householder in Leysmill called either Coulston or Donaldson over that period. The population of Leysmill remained remarkably constant over that period the names are: Reps of Robertson (40/41) replaced by McKnight Keith Stott Swinton Mackie Robertson Luff, replaced by Hosie, Sub-postmaster, in 48/49 Stewart Brown, in 44/45 & 48/49. Hutcheson Cheyne, replaced by Campbell 48/49 Brown Soutar The last three are in property owned by the railway, might be railway employees. Could "Granny Donaldson" be visiting a married sister or daughter in one of these households?
