I am interested specifically in the origins of Robert Sang, who was gardener to Lord Dun in the 1740s and 1750s, moving to Brechin between 1761 and 1763, and of his wife Margaret (Megg) Mitchell. I have had a brief look at the Dun estate papers in the National Archives of Scotland, but there was such a vast amount of material, not indexed or catalogued in detail, that I was barely able to scratch the surface of it.
