Gordon. --------------------------- You are correct. It was a one day poll, probably that subject was picked because they had an article about it. I think I mentioned in the posting that it would end at 7 pm US EDT. However, today's website has a section about feedback on previous articles, and the article itself, and it appears to be the one that triggered the daily poll subject yesterday. I think they had 80+ postings and those that I read were a pleasant change from the usual internet postings that I have seen on various subjects. Much more thought-out and articulate. Made me proud to be a genealogist. Since I'm not in Lansing and can't go out and buy that paper, and because they don't seem to have posted the results on line, I'm going with what I saw last night at 7 pm. At that time they had received 2,382 votes, of which 73% were yes, the person had done genealogy research in a library. Thank you for attempting to vote, Gordon, and thanks to anyone who did. Next week I understand there will be a public protest - a "Hands around the Library." I was also shocked when I googled "closing libraries" and found that it is all over - many other cities and states, including Hawaii, and Australia et al are all trying to balance their budgets by shortening hours or closing library and museum buildings. We are doing primarily genealogical research, but what about other researchers of other subjects? What message is this giving to our children?
