    1. Re: [ANGUS] Powrie interests, McLaren kin
    2. I'm posting interests for new members, all you old friends know already. I research Powrie and their kin. It was spelled Purrie back in 1500's and 1600's, Pourie came along in the 1700's except in Fife where it can still be found. Margaret Powrie married John McLaren in 1893 Burnmouth, Newtyle, Perth, Scotland, and I have 5 children, thanks to Jim Powrie in Italy. One son Alistair Stuart McLaren, fell in WWII. It's harder to find those soldiers and sailors of women who married out of the family. He was the gunner in the RAF 35th Sqad., and flew in a Lancaster pathfinder until his death. Always good to learn of various battles, and different regiments, I don't know all about various planes and tanks, etc. But these men are worth a few Internet searches...and a lot of reading. Adding Scottish and World history is necessary in order to be put into proper context. I'll never get all I know now into a book, but I've enriched my life....It's a process NOT a destination. But of course, all of you know this. If I talk to my sisters about this though, their eyes glaze over...they want my results, not progress reports, but my family online, understands when my biological family don't care. Their loss!
