The Montrose Burgh Processes index also sounds interesting. In the past the sheer distance between me and the Archives at Montrose Library was a distinct limiting factor. Now that I have moved I may be able to find the time to properly inspect the records they contain. My hunch is that the John Muckart, who was the Starch Manufacturer, was closely related to David Muckart, the Shipping Merchant. John may have been David's nephew or possibly even a younger brother. They apparently had a good going business and their starch products were highly regarded. The company traded as Shand & Muckart for a time. David Muckart shows up in some of the Trade Directories for the period. Grant Muckart Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
