    1. [ANGUS] finding Episcopalian records for 1757-1777 at Perth?

    3. I have been reading with interest the last few posts for "Liff & Benvie". One item caught my eye. How can I find baptisms that are not on the OPR at ScotlandsPeople? If I were to attend the Archives in person would I be likely to find them? am asking in particular about EPISCOPALIAN records. I have a marriage for PETER ROBERTSON to JEAN BISSET in 1756 at Kincardine. Then the only child born to them on OPR is that of JOHN ROBERTSON at Perth 1776, 'baptised by Episcopalian clergy", It was unlikely to be 20 years before children arrived. so if Peter Robertson, watchmaker of Perth, ended up in Perth area/ or at Perth city, for some years 1756-1776, then there must have been other children born to them. I actually have the names of at least 2 siblings who claim "PETER ROBERTSON, watchmaker of Perth " as their father on marriage records. [son James Robertson, watchmaker, who married Margaret Ogilvie 1787 at Dundee and dau Margaret Robertson who married Thomas Low tailor of Dundee, 1789] Neither birth record has been found with confidence. James should be in 1757 and Margaret should be 1764. The "named after" column in James Robertson and Margt Ogilvie's children's baptisms led me to the Robertson aunts and uncles and to grandmother "JEAN BISSET'. There is ONE Episcopalian record for a birth of Peter Robertson, 1734, on the IGI for Muthill Episcopal church. looking for any tips about these records, thanks Liz of BC Canada

It's not easy to say, because the Episcopalian records have not been specifically gathered together and many of them are still in the individual churches. I suggest contacting the diocesan office to ask if they have or know of the existence of anything that might contain the information you are looking for. See http://www.scotland.anglican.org/ for a list of dioceses and contact addresses. The National Archives of Scotland www.nas.gov.uk holds a lot of material relating to the Scottish Episcopal Church. The largest and most promising collection seems to be GB234/CH12, which has some church registers including that of Muthill St James's, 1691 -1902, GB234/CH12/7. HTH Anne
