Hello Duncan, I have some Fentons: James Fenton b 8 Nov 1859 Tannadice to David Fenton and Jean/Jane Tosh. These are relations though I have no spouse for James. The above David had a brother James Fenton born 1835 Tannadice who is not related to me. I have other Fentons all in the 1800s plus era but no Peter or George. I have Cramonds [Margaret born unknown who married Alexander Whannel born 1783 Arbroath; and William who married Jemima Tosh in 1864 Arbroath]. I have a Robert Tosh b about 1710 Tannadice who married a Jean Hendry 1735 Tannadice. Hello Ian, Thank you for sharing your instances of Fentons. Although I suspect this line may have come from Glenisla, which is not quite as close to Tannadice as I'd have liked, there is still a possibility that - especially with the name David in the mix - that there is a connection at some point in the past. Consequently I will save a copy of your message in the 'evidence' file which I compiling. Best Wishes, Duncan, Dundee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ian" <iang@grapevine.com.au> To: <angus@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 06, 2009 1:30 AM Subject: Re: [ANGUS] FENTON Ancestry - Tannadice, Brechin & Arbroath > Hello Duncan, > > I have some Fentons: > > James Fenton b 8 Nov 1859 Tannadice to David Fenton and Jean/Jane Tosh. > These are relations though I have no spouse for James. > The above David had a brother James Fenton born 1835 Tannadice who is not > related to me. > > I have other Fentons all in the 1800s plus era but no Peter or George. > > I have Cramonds [Margaret born unknown who married Alexander Whannel born > 1783 Arbroath; and William who married Jemima Tosh in 1864 Arbroath]. > > I have a Robert Tosh b about 1710 Tannadice who married a Jean Hendry 1735 > Tannadice. > > Cheers, Ian > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Duncan Smith" <d.smith.1@blueyonder.co.uk> > To: <ANGUS@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, April 26, 2009 9:10 AM > Subject: [ANGUS] FENTON Ancestry - Tannadice, Brechin & Arbroath > > >> Hello, does anyone on this list have any specific knowledge of the FENTON >> line which seems to reside at Tannadice prior to 1800? I have some Fentons I can throw into this ring. Thomas Fenton married my 4th great grand aunt Jean Wyllie, born 1752 at Tillyarblet, Lethnot. They were married in Lethnot in 1783 and had four children that I know of: Mary and David (twins), 1784; Susan, 1786; John, 1790, all born and baptised in Brechin. Susan married James Webster in 1807 and had 7 of a family. One of them, Fenton Webster, married Ann Milne in Montrose in 1851 and died in 1866. Fenton Webster and Ann Milne had one known child, Anne Webster, born 1853 in Montrose, She married William Mackenzie in 1875 in Montrose and had four known children. I do not know what became of any of the other Fentons or Websters. James Webster and Susan Fenton must have died before 1854, and probably before 1851. They were in the 1841 census. Anne
