I too have Dundee-resident Irish-born jute workers in my ancestry and am at a loss as to how to get back beyond born "Ireland" in the census. What do you know about the potential Irish origins of such workers? Kind regards, Jacqui William GRAHAM (b. cir 1832 Ireland) married Ann WINTER or WINTERS (b. 1833 Ireland) in Liff & Benvie ANS on 23 Apr 1853. Eldest Elizabeth b. cir 1855, birth not registered on GRO, 5 further children. They lived on the Hilltown - but confusingly there is another Irish-born William & Ann GRAHAM couple on this street at the same time...
