James Ogilvy SWAN is my great-great grandfather. At his 1896 marriage to Susan Mary Craske WATSON in Maheno, New Zealand, he declared that his parents were William Swan, a farmer, and Catherine Swan, nee WHITTON. He gave his birthplace as Scotland. Family sources tell me that he was born in Moatmill. The only place by this name that I've been able to find is in Angus. I have not been able to find a birth record for James at Scotland's People so far. I've looked at a few possibilities, but have yet to find one that fits these parents. Can anyone help me find him in Scottish records? Glad my curiosity got the better of me James Ogilvy SWAN's mother is Catherine Whitton DON Daughter of Thomas DON and Ann LOW Ann LOW is my 3xGreat Grandfather Robert LOW'S sister. and thanks to Wendy for asking for help. I would never have known there was another sister.
