    3. "It was announced some time ago that findmypast would be releasing the census for Scotland sometime this year Well they have this morning released the 1841 & 1851 for Scotland Before you get to excited...." In order to save money listers should first look at Freecen where for many years hard working volunteers have been transcribing the census records. Scotland has the best coverage on Freecen beginning with the 1841 census, the 1851 is good and the other years also have a good coverage - not complete mind you but worth looking at; you may just find what you are looking for; I have had a lot of success and refer to Freecen first before undertaking a search on the pay to view sites. 3. Hi Mary Anne I would heartily agree with you One thing you can do on freecen that neither Ancestry or findmypast offer for Scotland is the ability to go to the previous or next household Freecen is a bit slow but that facility is very useful, neighbours often figure in the family in some way and relatives often live close by Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > "It was announced some time ago that findmypast would be releasing the > census for Scotland sometime this year Well they have this morning > released the 1841 & 1851 for Scotland Before you get to excited...." > > In order to save money listers should first look at Freecen where for > many years hard working volunteers have been transcribing the census > records.
