    3. Hi Julie, Have you taken a look at a parish map for Angus? I'd think that the Dundee one is rather more unlikely, for two reasons. Dundee was a place starting to attract migration at that time so it's more likely that people were going to it than from it (though I have a counter example), and it's more likely that the son of a shipmaster would stay connected with shipping in some ways, whether in Dundee or another port, though again not impossible that he might become a weaver. However I'd investigate other members of the Kinnettles and Rescobie families, and particularly look for similarities of names with those of the children of Charles and Agnes. Airlie is quite close too, though. Also of course look for possible marriages of a Charles Finlay or Findlay elsewhere and check for deaths of all the Charleses, as there are some death records from that time period. Unfortunately some of the parish records from around there then are pretty sparse, and you may not find out, but have to settle for a balance of probabilities.
