Hello Heather, It was definitely a part time program, as I work full time. This one would not be correspondence, but I'm also looking around at that type of a program based out of the UK. The one I attended was oriented in large part to USA research, inevitably of course, but I'd like to find some UK education in genealogy. Mine didn't move to the USA until 1954, although I have been finding some related lines that did go to North America much earlier than my direct line. The IHGS is one I was looking at also. I think you have a good idea. Over here the quality of research really runs from unsubstantiated to pretty professional. When I talk with genealogists from England most all are on at a very high level of professionalism. They know how to document and chart.... They impress me. So, if you go over there, they will teach your high standards. One caution. Their record structure is quite a bit different than ours and some can struggle developing the skills to get into our records. BUT, I like to have someone over there do the documentation.
