    3. Two possible reasons I can think of, Sandy: Granny lived in South Muir and acted as midwife; Health reasons. One of my father's cousins was born in South Muir (1909) because her mother was suffering from tuberculosis and was taken to the fresh hill air above Kirriemuir away from the damp atmosphere of Forfar with its factory chimneys. Author: WBlore Surnames: Louson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.ans.general/5627.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Some time ago I communicated with a woman about the Louson family from Arbroath on Genealogy.com. Her post date was December 5, 1999. She had traced the Louson's we all may have in common from James Louson b. 1715/16. Hopefully you can reach her because she had a pictures of John Louson and his wife, Ann Agnes Ouchterlony Stevenson. If this is your John, it appears my William Hunter married his sister, Janet Louson. I have just started looking at my genealogy info since we are going over in a few months. I am very interested though if your John is my relative's brother since her only son moved to Quebec sometime before 1832. I have been trying to figure out what prompted him to leave his widowed mother and two sisters to go to Quebec. It may be that he was following an uncle. Interesting! Hope to hear from you. You need to search under Statutory Registers - Marriages. I searched for George Smith and Elizabeth Clark*. I found 4 entries. The 4th one was George Marnoch Smith and Elizabeth Clarke in 1909, in Dundee. If you still can't find it, send me your email address, and I will try to help you. Author: Forfarian Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.ans.general/6013.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hmmm. Could there, I wonder, have been some sort of error on the birth certificate? If I were you I would look for them in the 1911 census, and see if Mary had any older siblings. If so, I would then have a look at the siblings' birth certificates to see if they give the same date and place for the marriage. If you want to find out about their parents, their death certificates should tell you. George Marnock Smith died in Dundee in 1948. His death certificate should tell you the names of his parents. You don't say when Elizabeth Clark was born, but there are six possible Elizabeth Smith or Clark deaths in Angus. Three are much too old to be yours, and one is too young, but there was a 55-year-old in 1927 and an 81-year-old in 1947, both in Lochee. Neither looks very likely, but the 1927 one looks less unlikely. If she is yours, then her death certificate should tell you the full names of both her parents. If neither of them is yours, then perhaps she didn't die in Angus after all, and you may have to widen the search. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She would have been 6 years old, so perhaps she died young. Have you looked for a death certificate? Have you seen the 1891 census? Are all the family present and correct in the 1901 census?
