Might anyone know the term "braboner?" I've not found it anywhere. Alternative spelling seems to be "brabaner." The term was used in a list of testaments where the individual was the "sometime brabonar in Claschebeny, par. of Dunnichen" circa 1600.

Nevertheless, I tracked some of that line with the assistance of a subscriber to Ancesty.com who lives in Tasmania. She had a fairly extensive private family tree and was generous in letting me access it. If I recall correctly, she also had connections to Fiji. My Grandmother is Mary Ann Louise Duthie (married Alexander Campbell in Fiji) ~ and me and others have been doing the family tree. Liz Adams has done a lot and has printed one book, and about to print another on the Duthies. Hopefully you all have current information and will see this post :) Andrew Henry DUTHIE was my Great Grandfather, m Agnes Groom. Mary went to Melbourne and stayed with (what my father thought) was with Sir Henry Fowler, and attended a private school there (have yet to find this info!) Then she went back to Nausori Fiji. Margaret Emma 'Appleton' Fowler was Andrew's mum, and was named Appleton, from memory because she was born at sea on the Boat, the Appleton. She was married to Barclay Alexander Duthie PLEASE contact me for more info/to share info Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He descends from a Robert Gibson m. to a Margaret Gibson. Robert Gibson is buried at the Arbroath Abbey with his inlaws. Margaret came, with her children. to central Illinois, USA. Interestingly, the family ends up in the same area belonging to the same church which was originally on the land of James Smith. James Smith's mother was Susannah Dorward, also from Arbroath, Scotland. At the present time, there appears to be some eight or ten families who came to this part of central IL from Arbroath. I would welcome learning more about this Susannah, if anything can be found on her. Carol Andris Dorward Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I don't research spouses' parents, though I do make a note of anything a come across while researching the spouses. And of course I do research the descendants who are related to me. I do have a note that James Blues, Farm Servant, Balhall, is among the male Heads of Families listed in the Menmuir Kirk Session minutes, November 8th 1834, but nothing apart from that. I've seen the 1841 census, of course, but only the FreeCEN transcription, not the original, and I didn't make a note of it because neither Anne nor Alexander was present.
