I was replying to a post made by a Sandi Irvine in 2009. I have however recorded all the monumental inscriptions for Greyfriars Burial Ground, here in Perth. I have compiled them into a book which I am in the process of getting published. If you like I can send you the inscriptions that relate to the Irvines and Spences. Cheers, Grant Muckart Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My 5xGtGrandfather Gavin Spence and his descendants are buried in Greyfriars, and his grandson Gavin married into the Irvine family. It would be interesting to see if there was a tie up. 3. Hi,Edith, This place is still an active farm now known as Turwhapie. You can find it on Google maps just a little bit SW of Forfar. I can't find it on Roy's Military Map of Scotland (1847 - 55) though some of the more prominent local farms and estates are identified. It appears in John Thompson's Atlas of Scotland (1832) as "Sturwhapie" in near enough the same place ... given that local roads tended to move about a little over the years. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edith Talbot" <e.talbot@tinyworld.co.uk> To: <angus@rootsweb.com>; <aberdeen@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 24, 2013 2:32 PM Subject: [ANGUS] tarquhappie kinnettles > Hi does anyone know anything about this place, perhaps it was a farm > > Thanks edith > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > ANGUS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes > in the subject and the body of the message > > > ----- > No virus found in this message. > Checked by AVG - www.avg.com > Version: 2013.0.2904 / Virus Database: 2641/6197 - Release Date: 03/22/13 >
