I wonder if any one could help with any info as to why a family from Ross, Herefordshire would move to Barry, Angus c 1889- 1890 ?? and settle there for over 10 years ?? In the 1891 census for Barry, William and Alice DREW and 4 children were living at Burnside St .Barry. In 1901 census they'd had 2 more children and lived at Maule St Mill Cottage. Barry Their 2nd daughter Edith married in Glasgow in 1910 . Migrated to Sydney in 1915 . Her parents and siblings already living in Sydney They must have swum here as their voyage to Australia not in Findmypasts data base ! Many thanks Bye MargM Beautiful NSW Central Coast NSW Australia

dear listers: I am trying to find if the THOMAS NICOLL who was interred at Howff, and had died January 1841 age 82, was my ancestor. "My" Thomas Nicoll I believe was married to JEAN CHALMERS in 1785 at Dundee and they had 8 children born to them. Their first child was William born 1786, then Thomas, Jean, James, James #2, Janet, George and William Reid Nicoll in 1804. Son James became a "blockmaker" also in Dundee, marrying first Margt Robertson then Helen Scott. On the Friends of Dundee City Archives listing of Howff internements, "Thomas Nicoll, Blockmaker", was said to be born at "Rhind" which i assume is Rhynd, Perth? I cannot find any evidence of his birth at Perthshire, in years about 1759 or any "Thomas' born to a "William" in Perth at Rhynd. In the online Index to "Book of Perth" there is mention of a "Thomas Nicol, son of William" on "page 209". I am wondering if it is possible to view this page? or could SKS do this for me? Maybe someone can enlighten me on the contents of this book...does it deal with ancient years before 1800? thanks for your help and looking forward to your ideas on my problem, Liz of BC Canada
Hi all Noticed today via Eastmans blog that scotlandspeople have released deaths & burials now With the caveat the coverage is sparse as is the detail found in the record I can vouch for that having downloaded what I thought was the death of my g.g.g.grandfather in 1844 (nope its a one year old) So keeping that in mind........watch the pennys <g> Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK)

Hi group can someone tell me whether there are Mi's for Arbilot Forfar. Looking for Robert Wallace master tailor who died in the 1890's. Any info appreciated. Wayne Abel.
In today's Anglo-Celtic Connections blog is mention that The Irish Times is celebrating 150 years and giving free access to it's archives except the portion called "Find your Ancestor". I searched for Hawaii and came across an interesting article on the eruption of Mauna Loa Volcano in 1857. Mention also in June 1859 of the wreck of the Eastern Monarch a Dundee built ship. Never know what you might find of interest http://www.irishtimes.com/150/ Arlene
