    1. [ANGUS] Google street view
    2. DOREEN CUTHBERT
    3. Google St view was recently made available in the UK, but so far only in selected places. Dundee however is one of those places. By searching on an address you can see what the area looks like now, and in many cases get a good feel for what it may have looked like over 100 years ago. happy searching Doreen

    3. I an looking for some help with my wife's CREE family. In the 1881 census, we have a David CREE and his wife Betsy, along with their four children. However, in the Address column it says "9 Powrie place or 2 Forebank Street" (it looks like the Enumerator did not know where he was). Would anyone be able to look in the Dundee library at the Street Directory for 1881 for a CREE at one of those addresses. Or if anyone can help in any other way. 3. have you looked at google maps? Powrie Place runs at right angles with Forebank Road. There are tenements in Dundee where the door is on the corner of a building, so it might not have been clear what the address was. I just realised that the 1881 entry said Forebank St, which is at the opposite end of Forebank Road to Powrie Place. have a look at google street view, and you will be able to get a feel for what the place may have looked like at the time. There are still some old buildings in that area. 3. If you are having difficulty finding more of the photos mentioned in the first article, read on. If you go into the site http://ww1-lost-photos.livejournal.com/ look for this sentence, it's the first on the page Unknown Soldiers Unearthed from a barn in rural France, the 270 never-before-seen World War One pictures available exclusively on the Independent Online The part that says "270 never-before-seen ...." is hi-lited, click on that line and it takes you to another page On the page that comes up there are a few spots to click on that indicate there are more photos. Hope this helps you find some interesting photos Related articles Help solve the mysteries of the unknown soldiers Photographs of the unknown soldiers: A selection or CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE EXCLUSIVE PHOTOGRAPHS

    2. I am totally confused. I see just the few pictures and it sounds from others comments that they have seen many more. What am I missing. My father was in the Gordon Highlanders and was badly wounded in 1916 but I don't know where he was. We had one picture of him in uniform and it burned in a house fire. I would recognize him if I saw him. I would love to view all of the pictures. Kaye In a message dated 5/27/2009 11:08:25 A.M.
