    3. Hi Nivard: Your comments spurred my interest. I have always wondered about the gateway@rootsweb.com how it works etc. I have tried to post to it and it does not go through and now I know why, Thank you. My question is however does every posting that goes to gateway get put on the mail list. If so why do the people be required to join the List. Perhaps I should ask Rootsweb but after what has been happening on another list I am a bit hesitant in doing so. Thanks for any assistance you can provide me? 2. Hello Ross, If you pay G.B. 6 pounds to Scotlandspeople you may search your family, you receive 30 units, & 1 unit will show a list of James Thomas bn Arbroath, then you would be able to print a copy of his birth, which give parents & father's occupation, plus mother's maiden name. The websight is www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk Well worth it, & our $ is at 49P at present, regards, Barbara Melb. Aust. 3. Thanks for all who replied. Forebank Road runs from Ann Street to Victoria Road, No. 2 is now at the South end. Powrie Place is off the North end, forming an L shape between Forebank Road and Ann Street. The previous census entry was 37 Ann Street, at the North end of Forebank Road, so it is most likely that the Enumerator then went to Powrie Place. If I get to Dundee again I will visit the library and try to find out for sure. Colin

RCVS is the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, founded in 1844 but does not seem to bare any relation to your abbreviation Although a blacksmith might also be involved in animal care, shoeing horses etc, I can't see there being the likelihood of a blacksmith training and being a Veterinary Surgeon at one and the same time, not impossible, just unlikely I would have thought If you haven't looked at the page I would do so to see what it says, also check out any births, marriages and deaths to see what occupations are mentioned Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I believe it has to do with verterinary medicine as the ancestor was listed in other census information as a blacksmith and a retired veterinary surgeon. Walker Coull (you Dad)'s parents were Mary MacLennan (born 1892 I think) and Walker Coull (born 21 July 1893 Peterhead). They married 11 August 1917 at Stornoway. Walker (Mary's husband) had parents ROBERT Coull (b. 9 Oct 1859) and Margaret Watt (born about 1854) and they married 26 Feb 1885 at Peterhead. Robert Coull was born at Ferryden, Craig parish, Angus, to parents Walker Coull and Ann/Agnes (the name changes in the records) Coull. Margaret Watt died 31 Jan 1927 Peterhead, but I don't have a death date for Robert. Her parents were William Watt and Mary Taylor. Walker (Robert's father) died at the Mission Hall, Leith, of heart failure, 5 April 1896. The one who died at sea was probably Robert. 3. Hello Caroline, Have only followed my RENNIE/RENNEY in Scotland as far as when ANDREW RENNIE,born 1698, son of Andrew RENNIE and Jean COWPER of Kinnell left for Gateshead N.E. England and married Elizabeth HILLS there on Feb.3,1716, they were my 6X Grandparents and my RENNIE/RENNEY line continued on in Englad from there. However I do know that my Andrew had a sister Isobel RENNIE born at Kinnell in 1695 who married a John BRIMS, son of John BRIMS of Thurso, Caithness and he also had a brother, James RENNIE born 1701 at Kinnell, who I would love to find more about. As it appears Andrews siblings remained in the Kinnell area of Scotland I am interested in finding more about them. 3. Hello Caroline, This is really interesting. My RENNIE family info.in Scotland is quite limited. All I have is :- Andrew RENNIE, born 1675 at Kinnell, Angus, married to Jean COWPER, born 1675 at Kinnell, Angus in 1694 ? They were my 7X Grandparents. Their children were :- 1. Isobel RENNIE, christened May 23, 1695 at Kinnell, Angus. Isobel married John BRIMS, christened March 23, 1695, [son of John BRIMS of Thurso,Caithness] on August 14,1714. 2. Andrew RENNIE, christened March 4, 1698 at Kinnell, Angus. Andrew moved to Gateshead, N.E. England and married Elizabeth HILLS at St. Marys, Gateshead on Feb. 3, 1716. Andrew and Elizabeth were my 6X Grandparents. After this wedding the name was shown in the records as RENNEY. 3. James RENNIE, christened May 4, 1701 at Kinnell, Angus. Would love to find a marriage and children for James RENNIE but so far nothing. Does he link up with your RENNIE from Kinnell ? Regards, Pam [RENNEY] in Arizona. > From: cprellwitz@telus.net > To: angus@rootsweb.com > Date: Thu, 28 May 2009 17:38:46 -0700 > Subject: Re: [ANGUS] RENNIE, RENNY > > Pam et al - > > Anne RENNIE (1800-1869) was the 2nd wife of my 3 X great-grandfather William > TODD (1789-1869). 3. Sorry, my mistake. The 1881 census says Forebank Road not Street. i.e. the street that runs from Ann Street to Victoria Road. It's the right family, I'm just hoping to pin down the address. The enumerator was in Ann street (No. 37) before this address. 2 Forebank Road is (nowadays) at the Victoria Road end, so Powrie Place is more likely. The central library has Street Directories, published annually or bi-annually, which list who was at each address that year. (I think for local tax purposes) and I was hoping someone on this list in Dundee might be able to have a look for me. Is it possible that the Street numbers have changed direction over the years? 3. As long as you don't want the bitts they missed. They don't have the Fintry estate, or much south of the main coastal road. I found the same here in Bristol and in Glasgow, big chunks not covered. Maybe they will add those later.
