Try entering "shipping lists" in whichever search engine you use. Many will come up but my experience has been that they are somewhat random and may not deal with the specific year(s) you are looking for or are specific to a particular group of people. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: SueHemburyKellow1999 Surnames: MILNE, JACK, BROWN, WATSON, ANDERSON, CABLE Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.ans.general/2800.12.2.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Debbie, I'm not sure I follow your family tree details. You state that your Peter MILNE who married Isabel JACK in 1825 was the son of the Alexander MILNE born in 1711. Assuming we're talking about the same person, the Alexander MILNE born in circa 1711 *did* have a son called Patrick (also known as Peter) MILNE, bap 4 Sep 1737 at Rescobie, but this would mean he was about 87 years old when he married Isobel JACK! The Patrick MILNE bap 4 Sep 1737 at Rescobie was my 6G Grandfather. He married Isabel WATSON on 17 Jun 1759 at Forfar, Angus. The parish register states: "This Day Patrick MILN in this Parish & Isobel WATSON in Parish of Rescobie gave in their names to be proclaimed in order to marriage." Patrick MILNE and Isobel WATSON's son, Alexander MILNE (my 5G Grandfather) was born on 23 Jul 1761 at Lochhead, Forfar, Angus (OPR states: "July 25th. Patrick MILNE Weaver in Lochhead and Isabel WATSON had their Child's name registered for Baptisms called Alexander. Born the 23rd."). Alexander MILNE married Isobel BROWN in 1785, Forfar, Angus (OPR states:: "16 Jul 1785. Al: MILNE, Weaver in Lochhead, and Isabel BROWN, Daur. to James BROWN in Burnside, gave in their names for proclaiming of Banns."). Alexander MILNE and Isabel BROWN *did* have a son called Peter/Patrick (the two names were interchangeable), but I'm 100% sure he married Helen ANDERSON on 6 Dec 1825, Forfar, Angus. Peter/Patrick MILNE and Helen ANDERSON appear in the 1841 and 1851 Scottish censuses, at which time they were living at what was presumably the old MILNE family home at Lochhead, Forfar. The censuses indicate that Peter was, indeed, born in Forfar circa 1797. Some time after 1851, Peter and Helen emigrated to Kinloss, Bruce South, Ontario, Canada and they appear in the Canadian censuses thereafter. For the record, my own MILNE line is, briefly: Alexander MILNE | Patrick MILNE, bap 4 Sep 1737, Rescobie, Angus; married Isabel WATSON, 17 Jun 1759, Forfar, Angus | Alexander MILNE, born 23 Jul 1761, Lochhead, Forfar, Angus; married Isobel BROWN, 16 Jul 1785, Forfar, Angus | Isobel MILNE, born 10 May 1787, Forfar, Angus; married Joseph CABLE, 26 Jun 1818, Rescobie, Angus Do let me know if you would like further specific detail. Best wishes, Sue Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
