I am directly related through Charles Webster Leighton and Isobel Cuthbert who immigrated to the U.S., where I live. If you would care to share your email address I'll be back to you expeditously. They married 24 Jan 1841 in Kingsbarns and had 9 children that I know of. Agnes father was James and mother ? Millar. She was b. 1813 in Kingsbarns. James was a fisherman and may have died at sea after 1881. If anyone knows of death information about fisherman who died at sea that would also be appreciated. One daughter, Agnes, married a James Christie in 1860 and had a son, George in 1861. However neither Agnes nor James shows in any census records after 1861. 3. > St James Road, Forfar. That address comes up on many occasions > in the > census for the DON family, so there may be a connection. Not altogether surprising. Don Brothers was a major employer in Forfar, and their factory was in St James Road. At some point the company was named Don Brothers, Buist and Co, and it is now Don and Low, part of Thrace Plastics. See http://www.donlow.com/ Originally they would have been in linen production, but they moved into synthetic yarns in the second half of the 20th century. They built a new factory on the Glamis Road, and the St James Road building became the offices of Angus Council. However Angus Council has now built a new HQ at Orchardbank, just a bit further out the Glamis Road, and the old Don's factory is lying empty.
