I have nothing for him and his wife other than the marriage date in Dublin. Ireland is as you probably know a very difficult place in which to do research. This system does not allow e-mail addresses to be posted. My tree on Ancestry is called "bill in sri lanka". If you go there you will be able to contact me and I will be able to reply giving what you ask. If that is not possible please reply saying so and we shall work something out. Hi everyone, If anyone has ancestors who immigrated to New Zealand, you might find something about them in either of these links; This one is old & rare books on CD that you can buy for a very reasonable price; (I will be getting one of the Cycloedia's, a friend has a copy of the Nelson, Marlborough one) and there is a wonderful lot of information & photographs in there. Only drawback, is that you had to pay to have anything put into them, so my family aren't in there, but lots of other information. http://www.colonialcdbooks.com/ The National Library (New Zealand) of "Papers Past" http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&cl=CL3 On this one I have found some wonderful articles relating to the area I live in here, and family as well. Have been able to fill in a few births, deaths etc from notices in the Newspapers and even add in some names. The Newspapers are free to search. Good hunting, hope you find out something you didn't know before. Regards, Ann

Hi Jim, being from such a reputable source I looked at this, I'm guessing accidental spam. Would be nice if you especially could make money from all the transcribing you do for the list. Ian, I have a similar story in my own family. My gg grandmother, Anne Miller, was born in 1842. Her mother was Margaret Miller. Anne then had an illegitimate daughter, Betsy. In 1871, Anne was now married, and living in Dundee. Her daughter Betsy was in Leven, with her grandmother, Margaret Miller, and g gran, Betsy Miller. Betsy died in 1875 (in Leven). The family were all originally from Angus though. There was no indication that Margaret was around when her mother died. I can find no trace of Margaret after 1871. Her daughter's death certificate states that her mother was Margaret Miller, later married to David Smith, farmer. Like you, I can find no record of a marriage for Margaret, or a death. Did the family make this story up to make her seem more respectable? Did she get married outside Scotland? I doubt if I will ever get to the bottom of this one.
