Milan (or surrounding area) around 1785-ish This is the earliest way I have seen his name spelled in England (it later bacame John Dominico). I don't know if John is his real name or what he was known as in England, we're going to look into getting some research done at the PRO. I know nothing about his parents. "Family legend" (!!) states that the son of an Italian Count in Milan fled to England to escape his father!! So far the Milan bit has been proved to be true, but we know nothing about when he came to England or if his father was really "a bit of a one"! Ta muchly, Liz.
