From: "Katherine Lart" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Subject: Antonio Melchiorre Fabris Date: 25 August 2002 22:33 My g.g.grandfather Antonio Fabris was born in Venice about 1798. He was granted naturalisation in England in 1847. In his application he said that he was a native of Venice, was a merchant in the city of London and had lived in England contiuously since 1823. He had 9 children, at least one (Henry) emigrated to Australia, and another (Charles) to America. On some documents he is described as a banker, on others as a silk merchant. I have a copy of a rather suspect pedigree which gives his parents as ? Fabris, and Salletti Bal.... (a fold in the original has prevented the rest of her name from being photocopied). The couple had 10 children, 7 died of smallpox, 2 daughters survived, Adele who married Baron Tozi and Lettitia who married a marquis. How can I trace Antonio's birth and parents in Venice? Are there shipping records from Venice to England? Would there be a record of his arrival in England? How can I trace Charles in America? Are there any other descendants of Antonio Fabris and Sarah Edgell out there?
