Dear List I am new to the list, and would like to request information from anyone who can help me track down the ancestors of my husbands' great grandfather Felix Secundo Maria CASTAGNOLA, born about 1830 in Genoa. He was apparently the youngest of four brothers who went to fight with Garibaldi, but he was considered too young and sent home to his family. He eventually met and married Mary Ann Kent Dowdeswell in Genoa. Their first two children Sofia and Alberto were born in Italy, in about 1876 and 1878, and the others Emma Louise born about 1880, Daisy born 2 Aug 1884, Celia and Florence were all born in England. Felix died in Basildon, Essex in about 1922. His father may have been Giuseppe Castagnola, because I found a list of people on the internet who had fought with Garibaldi and there was a Domenico whose father was Giuseppe. If the family story is correct, then this would probably have been a brother and father of Felix, whose name may well have been anglecised from a more Italian sounding one like Felice or something. Any help would be joyously received!! Merilyn Pedrick Mylor, South Australia
