Our family are currently researching the name De Paolo/Di Pavolo - there appear to be various spellings of this name on birth and marriage certificates. The first reference of the family in England are when Casimirro De Paolo married Elizabetta Lemarro (father's name Francesco a general labourer) in Holborn on 26 July 1889. Their children (Michael, Dominico, Louis and Dominca) were all registered in the Deptford area of London, but before this we can find no trace of them. We believe they originated from the Naples area or San Pietro, Frosione District Near Cassino. Casimirro was an Ice cream seller at the time of his marriage and his father Clement De Paolo was a bootmaker. It was said Casimirro was a seaman but cannot prove this.
