Hello Felicia, you have given me extra information about Bertolomeo - that is, he was going to his relatives by the same surname. My ggmother said her family went from Italy to USA, but this was way before the families you mentioned. She said she was born on the ship going from Philadelphia to UK, hence her birth place of London on the 1881 Census (under her married name). It seems obvious there were family by the name of EROTTI by 1900's in USA, but if my ggm's story is correct, probably isn't (and she was born c1858) then her own parents must have left Italy before that - gone to Philadelphia and left there to go on to UK all before her birth in c1858. The name EROTTI is clearly a "real" name and it is just a matter of finding how it was corrupted in the 1861 Census and beyond, except for ggm's marriage certificates and on the birth certificates of her children. So many people on the List have been helpful and I appreciate all. I feel sure I will find the family at some stage.
