Diane, Apologies if this is stating the obvious, but have you looked for the daughter's birth certificate in the GRO registers (does the marriage cert give an age as a clue to when to start searching?)? Or searched the death registers for Joseph between 1876 (I assume 1976 was a typo) and 1892? I think some of the Family History Centres keep copies of the indexes on microfilm or fiche, if you can't get to the Family Records Centre in London. Will try to think of some less obvious leads. Hello Elaine, thanks for your email with suggestions. Yes, it was a typo! My ggmother had said she was born at sea (1856-189) , between USA and UK. She had also said her family went to the USA from Italy. Yes, I have checked for various years for BDM's through the fiche available at the LDS libraries. Another message I posted recently more or less told the story - maybe you saw it? I'll keep plugging on with the hope someone else also sees the name EROTTI/ERROTTI/EROTY. However, your suggestions are much appreciated. Cheers, Diane -----Original Message----- From: Elaine Collins [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, July 07, 2002 3:46 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Anglo-Italian] Ticinese emigrants Diane, Apologies if this is stating the obvious, but have you looked for the daughter's birth certificate in the GRO registers (does the marriage cert give an age as a clue to when to start searching?)?
