My father was a POW in Bedfordshire in the Woburn, Ampthill area. He also worked on a farm with a number of other Italiens. They were very good workers and were allowed out into the community. Alot went out with local girls and subsequently married them after the war, my father included. He continued to work on the land after returning to England and later trained as a psychiatric nurse, his English was so good that he also helped out as a court translator. So some good things came out of the war.
