    3. The Cumberland Pacquet, Thursday, January 9th, 1902 - Grand Catholic Performance Grand Catholic Performance at Workington A performance of the well known and once popular comic opera, H. M. S. "Pinafore," was given by the Workington Catholic children in the Jubilee Hall, Workington, on Friday evening. There was a crowded and demonstrative audience. The staging of the piece was excellent and the appropriate dresses worn by all principal characters and subordinates were greatly admired. The rendering of the music reflected great credit on Mr. John SMITH, Pow Street, the talented music director of the Threatre Royal orchestra, who had devoted himself unsparingly to the tuition of the students. Father FISHWICK was the acting manager and organiser of the performance, and who also took in hand the onerous work of instructing the performers.
