Note from Admin: I forwarded the original post as Alison's email bounced. I am therefore forwarding Caroline's reply as this came to me! The correct address for posting to the list is Anglo-italian-L@rootsweb.com Hi, I was slightly thrown by this one as I didn't recognise the Hatton Wall address. Having checked the map I see that it does mean St. Peters Italian Church in Clerkenwell Road. This church was opened in 1863 and according to their guide book was originally the "Church of All Nations". It attracted congregations of many nationalities throughout the 1860s and had a Polish chapel in the crypt. Apparently people of many faiths came because of the excellence of the music. Presumably in 1878 it will have been quite a trendy place to get married even if you weren't Italian. I see the the loggia on Clerkenwell Road was not completed till 1891, this might explain the use of the Hatton Wall address Hope this is some use, Caroline Enfissi. -----Original Message----- From: Mrs Julie Goucher [mailto:anglers.rest@virgin.net] Sent: 26 January 2005 18:23 To: ANGLO-ITALIAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Fw: Italian Church Holborn Forwarded! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Niall & Alison Taylor" <windyridge@beeb.net> To: <ANGLO-ITALIAN-L-request@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2005 5:31 PM Subject: Italian Church Holborn Hello I'm new to the list and was wondering if anyone can help me. My g. g. grandmother HANNAH KNIGHT married JOHN LYNCH by Certificate, at the Italian Church, Hatton Wall in Holborn, London in 1878. My grandmother HELENA SABRINA LYNCH was born in 1880. Would there have been a reason for choosing this particular church? Because as far as I know we have no Italian connections in the family. Hannah Knights father ALFRED KNIGHT was a Broker, Johns Lynchs father TIMOTHY LYNCH was a Market Porter. I would be most grateful if anyone can help.
