I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the people who set up and maintain this list. Sometime ago I posted my gt.grandfather`s name PIO TANCIONI and after a few months I was contacted by an American Professor of History who has a particular interest in GUISEPPE MAZZINI and the risorgimento. The Professor had found Pio`s name mentioned in various correspondence between Mazzini and associates, but didn`t know what had happened to him after being arrested in Perugia. My family knew virtually nothing about Pio, but we now have information about his years in London, his 2 families (alas he was a bit of a cad), and his association with Mazzini. All due to the existence of this list!! The Professor has written a biography of Mazzini which has an extensive index with many names, which I`m happyto look up for any list members. (I haven`t given the name of the prof. or the title of his book as I haven`t asked for permission to do so - but I will if anyone is interested). Yours in appreciation, Kathy Dugdale Nelson, New Zealand
Hello Kathy Thanks for the offer. Would it be possible to post a list of all the names to the list? Not only will it save you answering a lot of fruitless enquiries but it would make the names available for future reference, the message will stay in the list archive.
