Hello again Looking for help with 1871 census. I am pleased to say I have at last found my ggfather. His name is listed as Giovanni Annarino 24 Italy musician. The surname looks like Annoranna to me and is listed as Annamorana in several other census. In front of Italy for his birthplace is a name I just cannot decipher. Later census have his birthplace as Naples. Perhaps the place name is near to Naples. Also listed are Ficce Paganini Ratto Raciqiuppo all musicians at 1 Morgan St. Several of these have birthplace with the word I cannot read followed by Italy. Please would someone have a squizz for me. To find him and not know where he was born is bugging me! With grateful thanks from a lovely spring day downunder. Tina Morana
Hi everyone If someone is looking for Carlotti, in 1891 census Antonio Carlotti shoemaker of Naples aged 49 is living with his wife Angelina 40 born Southampton and daughters Rose 10 Elizabeth 5 both born Liverpool. 21house 3ct. Bayhorse Lane. They were boarding with Annamorana family transcribed as Ammerman and wrongly listed Antonio as surname Ammerman. I hope this is of help. Warmest regards from a sunny Oz. Tina Morana

Apologies to members of this mailing list who are not also members of the Anglo-Italian Family History Society, but the following message is rather urgent. We have had increasing problems delivering email copies of Italian Roots and messages to email members, because some ISPs are blocking them as spam. Members with AOL or BTinternet accounts seem to be the worst affected, but others are also having difficulties receiving our emails and attachments, sometimes because of the high security settings they have set up on their computers. For this reason we have set up a private members' group on Yahoo!, through which society emails can be distributed and the journals can be downloaded. IF YOU ARE AN EMAIL MEMBER THE JOURNAL WILL NO LONGER BE SENT TO YOU BY EMAIL (THOUGH YOU WILL RECEIVE A MESSAGE WHEN THE NEW JOURNAL IS POSTED TO THE SITE). You must therefore join the group to receive the journal. Invitations with instructions of how to join were sent last weekend to all members who have provided us with email addresses, whether email or postal members. However, only a small percentage of these emails appear to have been received and acted upon. If you have not already joined, please follow this link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AIFHSmembers/ Alternatively, you can send an email message to: AIFHSmembers-subscribe@yahoogroups.com Please include your membership number in the body of the email so that your application to join can be processed quickly - membership of the group is restricted to current paid-up members of the Anglo-Italian Family History Society. If anyone has any problems with joining please contact either myself or the vice chair Julie at anglers.rest@virgin.net. The October issue of Italian Roots will be uploaded to the group site in the next few days and you really wouldn't want to miss this bumper issue!
