The sacrifices they made and hardships they endured to build a better life in WA were acknowledged yesterday at the unveiling of the Fremantle Welcome Wall. Mrs Stazzonelli's parents, Giovanni and Stefania Zelesco are among the 8000 names engraved on the wall for postwar immigrants whose first contact with Australia was Fremantle. Arriving on the "Oxfordshire" with Licia and her two year old sister Marinella, the Zelescos were among the only five survivors of a communist bombing in WWII. Their six year old son was on of 300 who died in the raid. Mrs Stazzonelli said being asked to speak at the stage two welcome ceremony was an honour and a reward for all the hardships her family had faced. "It's nice to be acknowledged after the losses and sacrifices my parents made," she said. The walls list the names and year of arrival of migrants who entered Australia at Fremantle along with the name of their ship. The Premier Geoff Gallop saluted the contribution of migrants including his convict ancestors. The migrant welcome walls are in the WA Maritime Museum. A warm fuzzy just in time for Christmas. Best wishes to one and all Tina Morana in WA

Su, on the Anglo-Italian Family History website, put Baccino in the search engine and a short description of Terry Cooke's book on Liverpool's ''Little Italy'' comes up. Baccino is listed as one "of the more prominent families" who lived in there. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ukaifhg/index.html Maybe those Baccino's in Liverpool originated in the same place that your ancestors did? I did a BT search for Baccino's in Liverpool and 11 addresses and telephone numbers came up. Terry Cooke's book is available through the site where you can pay online through the Parish Chest or download an order form and send it by post.
