Hi All, Our monthly ADMIN message has been re-vamped. You will now find it on http://www.dreamwater.net/genealogy/AdminMessage.htm Please will you all go an have a look at it - comments and criticisms welcome. There are a few reasons why we have put in on a web page. 1) We do not want to clog up the Rootsweb Archives every month. 2) Those of you who are on more than one of our lists probably do not want to see it more than once. 3) You can now pop on to read it whenever you need to instead of waiting for us to send it. Regards, Carol (Tree Tops) FAMILY TREE & WELL MEET AGAIN - Free Query Service: SKY NEWS British TV Text Pages 267 & 268, http://freespace.virgin.net/tree.tops/ http://www.dreamwater.net/treetops/Index.htm P.S. Taglines on all Lists will change during the next week, sorry, no prizes for spotting the differences. (gr) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi list members, I am seeking any information on Philip Antone BORG 1839-1891, death in Birmingham. In the 1881 census he states he was born in Italy, marriage certificate shows father as Andrew Borg a coastguard. The family story is that he was on his way to US, fell from the rigging of ship while in Liverpool and remained in UK to receive treatment, he married Jane Pickard in Kings Norton in 1868. I realise Borg is a common name in Malta, not Italy, but has anyone come across Borg in Italy?? Jane in sunny Queensland.
Having finally managed to obtain a copy of 'The Italian Factor' from my library, I've noted that the author mentions an Italian 1871 census. As the context is information about the birthplace of Italians in Britain, I wonder if this is an actual census of Italians living in Britain (if so, does it 'name names' and is it accessible) or is it just information extracted from the 1871 census. Does anyone know? A Williams [email protected]
Hi Maggie, My Grandfather Giuseppe Desio was from Como town, I have a tramendous amount of information about Como which I will pass on to you in a few days. I personally visited Como last summer, it is really a lovely place. I have also managed to get quiet a lot of the family records. My Grandfather came to South wales and was a seaman working from Cardiff. If I can help you with anything from the Como side please let me know. Hello, I am new to the list, and would appreciate hearing from anyone researching the name Tarelli. My ancestors were from Menaggio, in the Como area of Lombardy and came to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne around 1840. They were barometer makers and were listed as dealers in toys and fancy goods in the 1881 census, with the name misspelled as Tarrelli. There are also more Tarellis that are listed in the London area, and as of now I am not sure how or if they are related. Could anyone check any trade directories that they have for Newcastle and London? Any information would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Maggie Tarelli-Falcon [email protected]
Hi Listers, Very excited today, as have received a letter, from a couple of QUOROLL sisters in Stoke (where my family are from originally) and they are in possession of postcards from the 1920's from Italy, showing our original name to have been QUEIROLO. So I now have: Joseph QUEIROLO, from Genoa, married Mary QUAIROLLA, from Italy They changed their name to QUOROLL At some point Gaetano QUOROLL shows up, what relation? Marriage record on BMD for 1879 Another marriage record for GAETANO QUEIROLOshows up 1886, different Gaetano, same family?? Just when i think I'm getting closer................. Anyone researching any of the 3 names, please get in touch! Regards Stephanie

Dear Simone thank you for look ups re: Galliers regards Christina
Regretably still nothing on the 1851 Post Office Directory CD for London ( as far as I can tell) for Avich and Avico. There are 2 Galliers indexed: George, chemist and druggist at 230 Tottenham Court Road and George jun. fixture dealer 60 Cantle? Street, Wellclose Sq. Simone
