Andrews was my great uncle. I visited with him and Aunt Vernie as a kid. Aunt Vernie said the J was just an initial he used during the military registration for those only having a single name. I never heard anyone call him or use the name James. I too have had problems getting past James A. Andrews. One source said he was born in North carolina and that is where I have been concentrating my efforts
