Andrews, 78, of Palmer Street, AuSable Forks, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 5, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a lengthy illness. He was born in Hudson Falls, N.Y., on Nov. 4, 1925, the son of Curtis and Mary (Gregory) Andrews. Lewis was a house painter by trade, employed by Stay Brothers in Plattsburgh. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 504, AuSable Forks. He enjoyed playing bingo, purchasing lottery tickets and hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Gravelle) Andrews, whom he married Nov. 2, 1952; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Theresa Andrews of Schuyler Falls, Alice and Herman Mallemuth of AuSable Forks, Marion and Steve Florino of Plattsburgh, Agnes and Marvin Goddeau of Schuyler Falls and Elly and Jay Borden of AuSable Forks; and two sons and two daughters-in-law, Curtis and Evelyn Andrews of Keeseville and Wayne and Cindy Andrews of Plattsburgh; 22 grandchildren; 13 great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Lewis I. Andrews Jr.; great-grandson Jerry Hart; his parents; and his brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be held Monday, March 8, at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery. Memorials to him may be made to the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service.
