My earliest Tonkin is Edward, born in England about 1619. He came to Burlington County, NJ, USA, and died there about 1690. Later generations of his descendants either stayed in southern NJ or moved across the Delaware River into southeastern PA. There is also one branch who moved to VA and West VA. Lots of Edwards, Johns, Charles, Samuels, Elizabeths and Rachels in my group. With all the questions on the Tonkin list about Cornwall origins, I suspect my Tonkins may have started out there, but I don't have any proof of that. Where did your line settle?
