    1. Re: [ANDREWS-L] Re: The middle name of Jackson in the Andrews line

    3. Let me suggest 2 more options on the middle name. Sometimes the person is named for a famous person, eg George Washington Smith, John Wesley Smith. If there was another George or John, the person may be called by the middle name, which becomes a "family" name that future boys might be given. Andrew Jackson might be the reason for that string of Jacksons. In my family I have people named for friends and other relatives. I finally identified the family of one woman in my family because she had named sons for her brother [that one got her maiden name as middle name] and for the husbands of her sisters. She was blessed with a bunch of sons and several sisters. Each of those sons had a surname as a middle name, but they were their uncles by marriage. My grandfather John Anderson Langley is named John Anderson, a neighbor who was "like a father" to the Langley kids after their father died. John Anderson Langley is the one who married an Andrews. Just some thoughts on other places to look for your Jackson. Sometimes a name remains popular with a family for centuries. Each boy is with that name was perhaps named for his father, grandfather or uncle, but the name persists in every generation for a very long time in some families. Linda
