Looking to identify Abraham Andrews, early proprietor in Berkshire Co., MA. He may be the Abraham Andrews in the US 1790 census in Hillsdale (perhaps Ghent), Columbia Co., NY >From looking at Berkshire Co. proprietor land records, it appears that Abraham's land was in present-day Egremont. The early records of Egremont have the following: Oct. 29, 1756 - "Abraham Andres" named in deed from John Popknehounuhwohl et al (Stockbridge Indians); land appears to be west of Sheffield/Great Barrington Feb. 13, 1760 - Egremont created c. Aug. 20, 1764 - second division of Egremont proprietor lots to be done by draw; "Abraham Andres [#] 33." 19th - no further date, but before July 1767 - third division Egremont draw: "Abraham Andres 7" Nov. 28, 1764 - "Laid out upon the right of Abraham Andrus to Hooker Hubbard 50 acres of land . . . . [boundary description follows]. There is within these boundaries above described 4 acres, 1 rod, 3 rods more than the fifty which is laid to Edward Baly to make up his fifty acres . . . . Rec'd for record April 11, 1766 June 1, 1765 - "Laid out in the second division to Edwin Bayley ten acres of land and to Hooker Hubbard 10 acres (on the right of Abraham Andrass. . . [near] the Noble Town line . . ." Jan. 8, 1767 - Recording of sale of land from Abraham Andrus to Samuel Enos; land located in "The Gore" between W. Stockbridge and the NY line. Aug 9, 1779 (recorded May 22, 1783) - Abraham and Sarah Andrus (husband and wife) of Egremont sell land in Sheffield to Daniel Lawrence. The land borders land owned by the heirs of Nathaniel Westover, deceased. (A Daniel Lawrence aft 1760 married Mary (Eno) Westover Root, widow of Nathniel Westover. Sarah, daughter of Nathaniel and Mary (Eno) Westover, married Abraham Andrews in "Sheffield" in January, 1755.
