    1. [ANDREWS-L] virus warning!
    2. Jaynie LadyJ
    3. Dear Friends: A virus has been passed to my computer, infecting my address book. Since you're in my address book, there is a good possibility the virus will be found in your computer as well. I followed the directions below and eradicated it easily. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. The virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems. Evidently, it sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by messenger and by address book, regardless of whether you sent emails to your contacts. Here's how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it: 1. Go to Start, choose Find or Search option; 2. In the file/folders option, type the name: jdbgmgr.exe; 3. Be sure to check your C drive and all sub-folders and any other drives on your computer; 4. Click "find now"; 5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe. DO NOT OPEN IT. 6. Go to "edit" (on the menu bar at the top of the page), choose "select all" to highlight the file without opening it; 7. Now go to "file" (on the menu bar at the top of the page), and select "delete". It will then go to the recycle bin; 8. Go to the recycle bin (on desktop) and DELETE it there as well. If you find the virus you must contact all the people in your address book so they can clean their own address books. To do this: 1. Open a new email message; 2. Click on the icon of the address book to the "to"; 3. Highlight every name and add to "bcc"; 4. Copy this message. Enter subject. Paste to email. Send. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. I hope all is well with you...and your computer We make our living by what we do. We make our life by what we give! ~LadyJ~

There are a number of old calling cards pasted in the book, including one of "Walter B. Andrews, Coral, Mich.". This one appears to be handwritten. They seem to be from the central Michigan area. Some are dated 1898 and 1899 and have "Institute" written on the bottom.

    2. The Auchs
    3. Andrews' researchers: I have begun looking for a connection to explain the apparent 'family name' of Holcombe in my g-g-grandmother's brother's name: Lewis Holcombe Andrews Their father was LFW Andrews who was s/o John Andrews b. 1790s. There may be a Hartford, CT connection because although LFW spent nearly 20 years in western PA when he was small, after he became a preacher, he is the official on record for several Hartford marriages in the early 1830s. Lewis and his sister Caroline were born in the north (NY?) and then the family migrated south to SC and Macon, GA. LFW's children were: Caroline, Lewis, Helen, John, Jane (Jennie), Fanny, & Ellen (at least). His wife was Jane (nee Gray) from western PA. On the Holcombe genealogy site, I found John b. 1794, s/o William A Andrews and Rosette Case on the Holcombe site, but little is said there. Is more known or can anyone direct me to more possible resources? I would like to prove or disprove a connection. The Holcombe contact could not add to what I have found. A relative commented that we were related, somehow, to him. What I need is a list of names of Andrews ancestors who lived in the late 1700's. It may be a wishful thought or it may hold the key to tracing our family back to Northern Ireland and Scotland.

    1. Re: [ANDREWS-L] Re:

    3. Vera, I have a slew of information on my Andrew family who went to Oklahoma in 1889 with the first run on the territory. My grandfather, Robert Newton Andrew made that run along with his brothers, Orlando (Ory), Grant, Frank and Ira. Their father Stanton ANDREW went first to Kansas, just north of the line, and later moved into northwestern OK. Some of the children of these men moved into Texas, including my Dad in the 1930s. Other children of Stanton stayed in the Marion, IN area and raised families there. There is another ANDREW family that moved into Texas before 1850. They settled in Central Texas. I have data on them somewhere, but I cannot lay my hands on it right now. One descendent of this family, David ANDREW settled here in Lafayette, LA where I live. He has concluded that we are not related, but I am not so sure. At issue (for me) is the fate of the sons of one Thomas ANDREW, b 1770/71, NC, who moved from NC to IN and died there after 1850, probably in Montgomery Co. BTW Aaron ANDREW married a Sarah Lindley, and lived in Paoli, IN. I understand that the family finally adopted the surname ANDREWS. Would that be your family? What is the name of the book that you referred to in your message?
