Andrews was--he's an uncle of my mother's 1st cousin, Sedrich ANNIS (still living) from his "other side" of the family. Just finished speaking to my mother, and she wasn't familiar with the name Edith Benedict (apparently the owner of the scrapbook). Would love to see the book since there may well be other names Mother would know (having grown up in the Coral/Lakeview area)--IF no family members are interested in claiming/keeping it.

But I could not connect MY JOEL ANDREWS whose father was born in NY (I think Stillwater- no proof) to any of the Green Co. ANDREWS. Why would one man leave his mother and family to sail the Mississippi and then PLOP down in Jersey Co. IL? I guess LOVE could make you do it.....:) !!! 3. Sue, It was my Web Page that Tina found. Here are records that I have for David Brooks. I don't think I have all of these posted on my Web Page. We never proved a definative relationship been Ann Brooks and David Brooks. That was something we were going to explore further. I suspect he was her brother, Tina, but have not yet found documentation to confirm it. The fact that he took over administration of her deceased husband's estate points to a close familial relationship. There is also the deed between David Brooks and David Andrews. 3. The only information I had about any David (other than in that will) was concerning a David Andrews, who m. Elizabeth King in Brunswick Co. I found that some people who descend from this couple claimed to be descended from William and Avis. In other words, the David mentioned in William's will. According to my Brunswick Co. marriage book, David Andrews who married Elizabeath King was the son of a John Andrews. I know that there were another Andrews families living in that county. I made contact once with a man who descended from David and Elizabeth. He had his line connected to William and Avis. I mentioned the information in my marriage book. He was going to check more, but I never heard back from him. I can not promise that the marriage book is correct, but I do know that other Andrews families lived in Brunswick Co. that seemed unrelated to ours. 3. Hi Tina, My ancestor was William Andrews (JR) who married Ann Brooks through their son Varney Andrews. This is according to the will of William Andrews (SR) the grandfather of Varney Andrews. (see the will of William Andrews (SR), dated 22 May 1770, from ACC 25828 Andrews Personal Papers, Library of Virginia). The maiden name of Ann Brooks is some what of a mystery. William Andrews (SR) in his will left property to ANN BROOKS, the widow of his son William Andrews (JR). Why did he call his daughter in law ANN Brooks and not Ann Andrews. According to the will of William Andrews (SR), his son William Andrews (JR) and Ann Brooks had sons Ephraim Andrews, David Andrews, William Andrews (111), and Varney Andrews. William Andrews (111) wrote will in dated 5 Jun 1776 (Halifax Co., Va Will Book 1, Pg 173, May Court 1777) in which he named his loving mother Ann Andrews, indicating that she had not remarried in 1776. So William Andrews (SR) in 1770 must have been calling his son's wife by her maiden name BROOKS. I have been trying to find the father and sibling of a ANN BROOKS with out success. DO YOU HAVE INFORMATION ON A DAVID BROOKS. Could he be Ann Brooks father or brother. My web site has a link showing my Andrews ancestors. I hope to hear from you. Sincerely, REGINALD L. 3. Hi Tina, The URL where you found the court records is my Web Page. A group of us, including Sue Gill who answered you earlier, did an extensive study on this Andrews line a year or so ago. I transcribed a tremendous amount of Mecklenburg Andrews records at the Library of Virginia. We have not determined the exact relationship between David Brooks and Ann Brooks, but feel there is a close one. William Andrews, son of Williams Andrews and Ann Brooks, died as a young man, without issue. You will find a section on him, which includes his will and estate, on my Web Page, close to the bottom of the same URL you mentioned earlier: http://members.cox.net/wi4k1/andrews.htm. There has been lot of research done on the descendants of Varney, but I have nothing on the descendants of David. Do you, Sue? Tina, do you suspect that you descend from David Andrews, son of William & Ann? 3. You and Carol have pulled up several references to the Brooks family being associated with the Andrews family. I think that was one of the reasons we thought that might be her maiden name. As far as I know, we never made contact with any Brooks researchers, but it sounds like something that might help us with the Andrews family as well. Carol, do you know of anyone who worked on this branch?
