Hello, I'm new to this list and wonder if there is anyone that has information on a James William Andrews born either in Louisiana, Georgia or Arkansas ?. His daughter was Marina Louvenia Andrews. In the 1880 Census of Bossier Parish, LA his widow Elizabeth Vaughn Malone listed the birthplace of her children as Georgia. In the 1900 Census of Bossier Parish, LA daughter Marina listed her father's birthplace as Louisiana. In the 1910 and 1920 Census of Bossier Parish, LA Marina listed her father's birthplace as Arkansas. In the 1930 Census of Bossier Parish, LA daughter Marina listed her father's birthplace as Georgia. I don't know which Census is correct. Not much is know about James Will Andrews since he died when daughter Marina was very young (1880 census his wife was a widow and Marina was 7 years old.) We believe he died about 1875. So if anyone has any clue please let me know. He is my husbands great grandfather and we can't get past this wall. This is a "new" surname for me. My sister and I recently took a trip to Columbia Co., NY where we found a deed for Jacob Andrews in which he mentions his daughter, Content Andrews Chapman, wife of Joseph Chapman. We hadn't known Content's surname, so were excited to find this. These people lived in the town of Canaan. Jacob died prior to 1804. If this sounds familiar to anyone, I would love to hear from you. My 2g-grandmother Jennie Grey ANDREWS was born in South Carolina but lived and died in Macon, Georgia, and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery there. Her father was the Pennsylvania-born Unitarian Universalist preacher Lewis F Wilson (LFW) ANDREWS and her mother was Pennsylvania-born Jane GREY/GRAY, a daughter of a Methodist minister. Her grandfather was the Presbyterian Rev. John ANDREWS (Maryland-born but North Carolina-raised) who married Eliza(beth) CALHOUN (Pennsylvania-born and Kentucky-raised). This week I have found 1) Jennie's birth and death from her tombstone in Rose Hill, and 2) her grandmother's parents and birth and death dates from the grandmother's death notice. Jennie GREY ANDREWS 1)married Charles E. ROSS 2) married Mr. LaVARRE 3) married Alexander S. McGREGOR. Widowed at least twice, perhaps three times, she was buried with the following on her tombstone: Jennie Grey Andrews April 20 1845 Sept 2, 1895 Her grandmother had died some 51 years earlier, on September 1, 1844. from Genealogical Excerpts From The Presbyterian Advocate, October 4, 1838 - October 24, 1855 , (news and events concerning the Presbyterian faith) Compiled and Edited by Paul Keith Heckethorn; Closson Press, 1935 Sampson Drive, Apollo, Pennsylvania, 15613 Copyright January 1999 Page 55 September 4, 1844 Died on Sunday about 4:00 a.m., Elizabeth, wife of Rev. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wm.2ADEB/1456.1.1.2 Message Board Post: my family records confirm those records I have researched in the census and that is that Joseph Andrews Jr. and Nancy Rice Andrews (his first wife, second wife was Jane Waggoner)had a son named John Ellis Andrews who was born in 1836 and died April 26, 1866. John E. Andrews first wife was Rebecca Rambo. His second wife was Martha A. This gets very confusing because Martha A. Miles was married to John Andrews, born about 1815 who was this John Ellis' uncle. John Ellis Andrews was a civil war casualty. He left two daughters Mary E. (born of his marriage with Rebecca Rambo) and Effie A (born of his marriage with Martha A.) Guardianship of Mary went to John E.'s father Joseph. Effie stayed with her mother. By the way, John Andrews born about 1815 married Martha Miles and born to them were William, Eliza J. (who married Thos. Simmons), Robert and Martha. The Pitman buried at Asbury is son of Richard Andrews and Molly Lane. My line is through Joseph Jr. and Nancy Rice. Their son, J. B. (Joseph Benjamin) is my great-great grandfather. I hope all of this helps. I am excited about this because I just returned from a week of onsite research. Here's a question I have though... Do you suppose that Robert D. Andrews is the oldest son of Joseph Sr. and Susanna Ellis or is a brother born of Richard Andrews and Molly Lane?
