Wicks and Lulu Cagwin. I also found on the same search that the parents of Nelson G. Wicks were Charles D. Wichs and Emeline H. Wichs. The WICKS in my family lived in Lake County, Michigan: Nelson D. Wicks, m. 1st, Alzora (Duker) and had two children: 1. Gladys Wicks, b. abt. 1896, m. Walter Lawton, who had one son, Nelson C. by a former wife, and then, Gladys and Walter had Lorinda, Max, Damaris, George. Gladys' brother Nelson "Evart" Wicks and his wife Edna, my great-aunt, raised Damaris and George, the two youngest children. 2. Nelson "Evart" Wicks, b. abt. 1898, m. Edna Belle (Griffes), the only daughter of Ensign Beals Griffes and Catherine Margaret (Little) Griffes (My great-grandparetns). Then Nelson D. m. 2nd, Lillis Jennettie "Etta" (Cooper), daughter of Arthur Cooper and Susan (Griffes), who was a sister of Ensign Beals Griffes, my great-grandfather. Nelson D. and Lillis "Etta" had one son: 3. Erwin Wicks, b. abt. 1898, married a Joan (---). Other than the connections I mention, I am looking for more possible blood connections between these three surnames: GRIFFES, COOPER, WICKS, LAWTON, and MITCHEL. Many men in my GRIFFES family have the middle name of Mitchel, and I noticed someone with the last name of MITCHEL in this threaded message. The name Mitchel with one "L" might be a maiden name of someone in our ancestry. My great-grandfather Ensign Beals Griffes was born in Ellicottville, Cattaraugus Co., NY on 26 September 1854, although his grave stone has the year 1855. I need to find proof of his birth date and birth place in preparation for applying for Mayflower membership. I only need to document Ensign Beals Griffes, and his parents, Orson Mitchel Griffes, b. 19 August 1827, Franklinvile, Cattaraugus Co., NY, d. 27 December 1897 Clarklake, Jackson Co., Michigan, m. 01 January 1848, Westfield, Ontario Co., NY (Possibly) or Ellicottville. I need to document Orson's wife, Laura Litchfield, also, but not her parents, because someone has documented from her parents back to Richard Warren, Mayflower passenger. Laura Litchfield was born 06 March 1820, Chesterfield, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts, daughter of Ensign Litchfield and Mary "Molly" Hayden, d. 14 December 1894, Clarklake, Jackson Co., Michigan. I am hoping to find newspaper birth announcements or other documents like wills. Lois
Looking for any indormation regarding Joseph Andrews who married Margaret Cummings. They married in 1816 at Wallsend, Northumberland. Margaret Cummins was born abt 1787 in North Shields. Not sure where Joseph was born. Exact dates are not know for these two people. Margaret died in 1857 at Liddle Street, North Shields. Haven't been able to find Joseph Andrews on the 1841 census but in 1840 they were living at Bell Street, North Shields. Joseph Andrews was a mariner, but that's all I know about him. They had 6 children that I know of, my line being :- His son, Matthew Bell Andrews was christened 27 Jan 1830 at Christ Church, Tynemouth and was a chainmaker. He married Ann Collingwood in 1851 in South Shields. If anyone has any information on these families, I would be grateful for any information. Cheers, Andrew
