I need some help to find more information on John C. Andrews. I need his date and place of death - presumably between 1876 and 1880 and probably in Boston, MA. According to the 1870 Census John C. Andrews (born about 1842 in New Hampshire) was a physician living in Hillsboro, Rock Township, Jefferson County, Missouri, USA. According to that census (taken 11 Aug. 1870), he has a wife, Matilda and children Jennie and Texas. The 1880 Census shows another son, John born 1870 or 1871 in Illinois and a daughter Mabel born 1877 or 1878 in Mississippi. On the 1880 Census Matilda is not listed as widowed but is shown as the head of the family and living in Boston, MA. Also the Mississippi birthplace for Mabel could be incorrect as in 1910 and 1920 she is married to Lewis M. Mann and gives her birthplace as Maine. Thank you for any help, Ginger

The rest of the people are unknown to me. The grandparents in the middle could be either Andrews' or Dixon's and I'm not sure which. Let me know if you know anything!God Bless! Jenny(Andrews) Barton

She further states that she and her family were in Limestone co AL in 1850 and 1855, and that her husband died in 1865. She states that he was born in 1795, but otherwise has no information about his first marriage and no soldier's names to back her claim for his war of 1812 service, other than that he served as a private in Col Stampfer's E TN militia. She further states that she lives between the road to Elkton and Poplar Hill, which is present-day Giles and Lincoln cos TN. Her app is filed in Bethel, Giles co TN, but she identifies her Limestone residence as Gilbertsboro She reports that she and John had these children, and her list is supported (for the most part) by census: Anderson age 35 in 1885 Mary age 35 in 1885 (twins?) Berel (Burrell) age 33 in 1885 Elisabeth 23 in 1885 Emily 25 in 1885 John age 27 in 1885 She gives no indication about any previous children John may have had. 1870 census for Limestone, township 1 range 5, shows: Slaton Martha b AL Cen Limestone 1818 f Slaton Tippy b AL Cen Limestone 1849 f Slaton Mary b AL Cen Limestone 1850 f Slaton John b AL Cen Limestone 1853 m Slaton Burrell b AL Cen Limestone 1855 m Slaton Elizabeth b ALCen Limestone 1857 f Slaton Emily b AL Cen Limestone 1860 f In 1880, she is living in Giles co TN, Dist 9, 175B, with a black family called Huston, and someone gave her information as b VA, father and mother b VA. She was awarded a pension payment from the Knoxville TN office. I am seeking any information about this couple, and there is a significant minefield in the fact that there was a CAPT JOHN SLATEN who also served in the E TN militia, under Col Booth, but who died ca 1819. Also, it appears that John & Martha's son John married a "Mattie," possibly another Martha. There was yet another John Slaten b 1826 SC who married Mary McCarley and is in the 1860 Limestone census. He is too "old" to be from John & Martha.

He had several children, but his first born son, Stephen was b. in 1775 in CT. John may have had two wives. He moved to Chenango Co., NY about 1800 and d. there between 1812 and 1823.
